The Meaning Of...

29/09/2015

As part of Onorach’s eNews series, in this edition we shine a spotlight on Onorach’s Gynaecology and Obstetrics clinical research offering – which happens to coincide with the 40th year celebrations of Monty Python.

Who can forget their immortal take on the subject of reproduction?

Quote from Monty Python –The Meaning of Life

Obstetrician 1: Get the EEG, the BP monitor, and the AVV.

Obstetrician 2: And get the machine that goes 'ping!'

Obstetrician 1: And get the most expensive machine - in case the Administrator comes in.

As well as being the 40th anniversary of Monty Python, 2015 is also the year that Onorach has made significant improvements to its services in the fields of gynaecology and obstetrics.

The drive for research in this field has seen Onorach expand its international team earlier this year with the appointment of Onorach’s gynaecology Subject Matter Expert, Dr Dmitrijus Kirilovas.

Dr Kirilovas has over 20 years of experience of clinical practice in obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as holding a PhD in gynaecological endocrinology.

Underpinned by over 25 years experience as a CRA, Monitor, PI and Clinical Team Leader for a number of international CROs, Dr Kirilovas knowledge and understanding of gynaecology clinical studies is already bringing significant benefits to clients.

Onorach’s capabilities have centred on gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) research. The neuroendocrine events leading to increased GnRH secretion and the resultant onset of puberty remain largely unknown. Problems with hormones released during puberty can affect the reproductive system. Some of the conditions that Onorach have experience of include; genetic disorders, infertility, hypogonadism and amenorrhea. These conditions can cause infertility. Some medical devices have been used to detect the level of luteinizing hormone which give a determination of the best time for fertility in these patients. Some patients have also opted for IVF, which has been studied. Onorach have also conducted studies for medical devices aimed at detecting Beta Human Corionic Gonadotropin.

Onorach’s team have experience of uterotonic agents, pitocin, oxytocin and dinoprostone and have conducted studies on induction of labour, failed induction as well as studies into alternatives to induction. In labour, Onorach have experience of the most effective drugs for pain relief such as stadol, demerol and nubain.

These improvements provide clients with innovative, reliable and effective clinical trials for drug product and medical devices… including machines that go "ping"!
